A quiet week this week, an awful lot of people have taken this last week off, so the Academy is devoid of the usual comings and goings. It’s a time to catch up on the dreaded paperwork side of this education thing. We have to go through the students work, and ensure it is of the right standard to be passed for the certificate. To that end we have had Andrew Mead in this week, as our IQA (Internal Quality Assurer) he takes a look through the files, and points out the holes. You would be surprised how easy it is to miss a signature out of a huge portfolio of work!
We have now selected most of our first cohort for the new apprenticeship. The next step is for them to be interviewed by the employers. Once the employers have decided who fits the bill, we will then start to organise their block weeks.
The new standards are pretty intense, so there will be more block weeks than before. We will be covering everything from tree biology to pruning in a MEWP, so a lot to cover!
